What this policy covers
This policy covers the website at nutcaseapp.com and the waitlist form on it, both operated by Nutcase App LLC (“Nutcase,” “we,” “us”). It also covers the text messaging program that will run through the Nutcase service, and, as the service becomes available, the Nutcase application and mobile apps. Where the service has its own notices or terms, they will be linked from this page.
What this website collects
The waitlist form. If you choose to join the waitlist, we collect your email address (required) and, if you provide them, your firm name, practice area, and role. The form also sends a fixed label identifying where it was submitted from (“waitlist”). Our form provider may record the time of submission and your IP address as part of spam prevention.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs that may include your IP address, browser type, the pages you requested, and timestamps. We don’t use them to identify you.
Email you send us. If you email us, we keep the email so we can reply.
We do not ask for or collect your phone number on this website.
How we use it
- To email you product updates and launch news about Nutcase, if you joined the waitlist.
- To reply to messages you send us.
- To run and protect the site, including spam prevention.
We don’t use your information for anything else without asking you first.
No cookies, analytics, or trackers
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, tracking scripts, or pixels. Fonts and images are served from this site, so viewing a page sends no request to any other company. No third parties collect information about your activity across websites through this site.
Because we don’t track visitors, there is nothing for a browser “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal to change: we treat every visitor the same way. If any of this changes, this policy will change at the same time.
Who processes it
These service providers handle information on our behalf, only to provide their service to us:
- Formspree, Inc. receives and stores waitlist form submissions and forwards them to us.
- DigitalOcean, LLC hosts the site and keeps the server logs described above.
- Twilio Inc. delivers text messages sent and received through the Nutcase service. Twilio processes phone numbers and message content in order to deliver messages, and nothing else.
If we start sending product updates through an email service provider, it will process your email address on our behalf and we will name it here. Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data.
We don’t sell or share it
We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address, phone number, or any other personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own use. We share it only with the service providers listed above, who may use it solely to provide services to us, and when the law requires it.
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Text messaging through Nutcase
Law firms that use Nutcase will be able to exchange text messages with their own clients through the service. The firm is the sender; Nutcase provides the software. Nutcase itself may also text people who work at a firm, for example a one-time code to verify a login or a notice about their account.
If you are a client of one of those firms, the firm collects your mobile number and your consent to receive texts, and Nutcase stores your number, your consent record (the date and the wording you agreed to), and the messages on the firm’s behalf.
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won’t be shared with any third parties.
Mobile information may be shared only with service providers that assist in delivering our services, meaning the messaging carrier and Twilio, and only for that purpose.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can stop receiving texts at any time by replying STOP to any message, and get help by replying HELP. The full program terms, including sample messages and how consent is collected, are in the SMS Terms of Service.
The Nutcase service and mobile apps
The Nutcase application is in development. Before it launches we will publish a service-specific privacy notice and data processing terms for firms. These are the commitments we are designing to:
- The firm owns its case data and can export it, including when it leaves.
- Case data is processed only to provide the service to the firm.
- Firm and client data is not used to train AI models.
- The mobile apps will collect only what they need to work, will describe what they collect in the app store listing and in the app, and will let you revoke device permissions in your device settings.
- If a feature connects to a Google account (for example, filing email from Gmail), our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist. Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address, or until we close the waitlist and have sent the launch notice plus a reasonable period afterward, whichever comes first.
- Server logs. For the hosting provider’s standard retention period.
- Messaging data. For as long as the firm’s account needs it. Consent records are kept at least as long as needed to demonstrate consent.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from product updates with the link in any email we send.
- Access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing [email protected] from the address you used. We will respond within 45 days, we will not discriminate against you for asking, and we honor these requests for everyone regardless of where you live.
- We don’t sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
- Residents of California, Colorado, Texas, and other states with consumer privacy laws may have additional rights under those laws. Contact us to exercise them.
- If you are a client of a law firm that uses Nutcase, requests about your case data should go to the firm, which controls that data. We will help the firm respond.
Children
This site is not directed to anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
United States
Nutcase is offered in the United States and this site is intended for visitors in the United States. If you contact us from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the dates at the top. If a change materially affects information you have already given us, we will email you before it takes effect.
